4 weeks until my due date!!! I can hardly wait. A friend of mine recently had her little girl over the weekend and I found myself overjoyed and...a little jealous. I was jealous because she got to see her baby, hold her and take her home and I have to wait!!! :) I'm sure some other moms out there can understand. To keep myself busy I've been working on my blog and putting together fabulous crafts!

This week I'm happy to be posting at ... And sharing a truly fun DIY for either your little ones nursery OR playful, fun party decor. This ribbon and Pom Pom garland is super easy to make and will impress your party guests or delight your little ones. So, here we go :)

Supplies

  • Several different types of fabric : I choose all cotton except for one, I couldn't help but pick up this beautiful gold dot :)
    • NOTE: I did about 30 tassels and purchased 2/3 of each type of fabric. I had plenty left over for other crafts later so I think you could get by with 1/3 instead.
  • Yarn: I did all my Pom Poms in the same color since I had so much going on with my fabric but you could do several colors of you wanted.
  • Non stretch nylon thread

That's it!!!!! See, easy so far. We're going to start by making the Pom Poms. Take the end of your yarn and with your thumb secure the end in the palm of your hand.

Next you're going to wrap the yarn around 3 of your fingers several times until you get a good chunk, like so.

Clip your yarn but make sure to leave a tale 3-4 inches long.

Take your 'tale' and wrap run it between your fingers several times so you secure the center of your chunk of yarn, gathering it so it looks a little like a bow.

Note: you may need to remove the gathered yarn from your fingers to make sure the center is nice and tight.

Secure the end of your tale. I tied mine around a loop and then used a small dab of hot glue to make sure it didn't go anywhere.

Now, cut through all your loops on each end so they are free.

Manipulate the ends until you get a Pom Pom!!

Note: the more times you go around your fingers, the fluffier your Pom Pom will be. If you want larger Pom Poms find something wider than your three fingers to wrap the yarn around.

I made 7 Pom Poms for my garland but you can make as many or as few as you would like.

Next we're going to cut the fabric. You'll need 6 strips of each color and design measuring 1 1/2 inches wide and 20 inches long.

Cut your nylon thread to measure 9ft. Measuring in on one end about 2 feet secure your first tassel by tieing a one of your fabric strips around the nylon thread.

Once your first tassel is tied on, thread the long, free end of your nylon through a needle. Go ahead and attach one of your Pom Poms by threading the needle through the center.

Continue on alternating Poms Poms and ribbon until all your Pom Poms and strips of fabric have been used. Tie a small knot on each end to secure everything in place.

And your done!!! Now hang your lovey garland at your next party or to decorate a child's room :)
