This weekend my sister flew in from North Carolina to join me at the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo! We had so much fun! I used to show cattle in high school and LOVED it! I miss that world. It was so nice to be back in a barn! Even though we weren't the ones showing. It was still great to sit and watch and see all the talented young people and beautiful cows! I will walk you through our wonderful day!
Of course the day started with a hotel mirror selfie. I need a mirror like this at home.
And we made it to the show! After getting a little lost and walking like 2 miles from our parking spot to the barn. But we made it! We saw all these talented kids! I love it! Show kids are the best kids. And maybe I'm bias. But for real. the work and dedication these kids are putting into this is unreal. It's a responsibility like no other sport puts on a child. These kids spent the better part of Thursday driving from wherever they lived often states away. Friday morning they were likely up at 5am to make sure their cows were washed and clipped and ready for the show. And pre show they worked weeks and months to train their heifers to walk and stand and behave just right for the show ring. And this isn't their only show! Oh they have weekend and weekend after show! These kids rock! Seriously!
I was able to get a few pics of just the cows! Because cows are adorable! And I love them! And we watched them for hours! I used to lead a team of kids that showed cattle and I did it through High School myself. But even when I was a showman I never really enjoyed watching shows more than a few minutes. I loved being a part of it but the watching people walk cows in circles endlessly was never my forte. I would watch long enough to feel like I knew what the judge was gonna do and then go get ready! My sister on the other hand could watch for hours. And she did. And so I did. I mean she did fly all the way from NC to watch. So it just makes since she watched that long. I took some shots and then did some work from my phone! hehe! It was fun though! She would get to excited! She watches a cattle show like football fans watch the Superbowl!
Aren't they so cute?!?!?!?! Oh so cute!
And a boot pic. Just because.
I got a FreeBird burrito bowl for lunch. Obviously deserving of a picture as well.
Pretty horse statues were outside of the wine garden! I've decided that all shows need a wine garden! haha!
This one seems a bit camera shy. But I love how cute she is!
Look how awesome these kids are!
She seems unsure about me taking her photo.
"wait. Are you taking my picture? What are you looking at?"
"Make sure to get my good side!"
Anyway! We had so much fun! We did a few other things in Houston that I am sure you will be hearing about soon! Have you ever been to a livestock show?
